A great venue for watching some local talent or the not so well known foreign bands. Have seen a couple of shows at D-22 and seem to always walk away happy, except once when they had some experimental... i guess Techno or something going which cleared the bar out very quickly, it was about 4 in the morning and the bands before them were great.
It's not a big club so if it's a big night get there early to make sure you get in or plead your case with the bouncer and hope they are in a good mood (thanks whoever was on door New Years!).
The Chinese staff is mostly quite friendly and happy to chat if not too busy and the clientele are usually a decent group of fun loving people, not too much anger going on there which is nice. If you get there early go up to the second level for a great over head view of the club and the band but just be careful of leaning out at the lights below shine directly up into your eyes and will blind you a bit which is annoying if you like people watching. As long as you keep your head back you should be fine though.
They also have some good CD's for sale from some local talent like Car Sick Cars and Joyride as well as some shirts for those who want to show the Beijing scene a little love.
Pros:Good Music, Friendly Staff, Decent Drinks, Good customers
Cons:Standing upstairs and looking over the edge can blind you, a little small, very smokey but this is China so that's to be expected of small venues.
Over all a nice night out, the drinks are fairly standard and the music's pretty loud. Would recommend to anyone looking for some live music. Wish I could give it a 3.5 as I don't think it's quite a 4 but can't here so, Lucky D you get a 4.
