Tianzhaotian Accessories Wholesale Market to Close in December, Offers Incredible Discounts
If you're one of those organized people and want to get your Christmas shopping done as soon as possible, you've got to get to Tianzhaotian Accessories Wholesale Market. This market has been my favorite since I first moved to Beijing, when I was looking for somewhere to buy beads and other jewelry-making accessories.
Upon my last visit the vendors told me some bad news; Tianzhaotian was closing, receiving the same fate as many other Beijing markets.
Some of the stalls have closed and emptied out already, rendering some corners of the building a consumerist wasteland a.k.a. how we wish Yashow had stayed.
Fortunately, there are still enough shops open to make it worth a visit, especially now that it may be your last chance to do so. On top of that, because they're closing, there's tons of accessories and things to make jewelry with, particularly beads, on discount. As the vendors are either moving to Tianyi Market or going home, they're trying to get rid of their stock.
We paid RMB 5 for strings of beads that would usually cost upwards of RMB 20, and paid less than RMB 5 for bags of locks, string, hooks, pins, and other bits and bobs you would need to make your own jewelry.
This place is also perfect for picking up gifts for friends. Keep in mind that the quality is not incredible, but this is reflected in the price: many earrings go for RMB 5-15. We love you, friends! You can haggle a bit too, and if you buy more you generally get wholesale prices on the earrings and hair accessories.
And if you're looking for a pretty creepy wig, you might even find that here, too.
