Say No to Sad Desk Lunches with These Great Delivery Deals

In an ideal world, we'd all take an hour away from our desks every lunch time to run errands, stretch our beleaguered spines, and have a proper, two course lunch. The reality is, most of us office drones are lucky to snag 20 minutes to wolf down a sad sandwich or cheap gaifan at our desks - so much so, that there's even an entire website dedicated to Sad Desk Lunches.

Now, the Beijinger team gets out and about a fair bit more than most, but for those days when we're stuck in the office (i.e. when it's raining or the AQI is above 300) we tend to turn to Sherpa's. Bored of our usual Wagas sandwich, we plummed the depths of the restaurant listings and found that there are some very good delivery lunch deals to be had. Here are a few of our favorites.

Pak Pak
Pak Pak's sets (RMB 68-88), which come in a huge, takeout pizza-like box that will be the envy of your co-workers, offer a sunny taste of Thailand to brighten up your dreary office. The green curry chicken set (RMB 68) features with authentic Thai green curry, grass noodle and shrimp salad, and stir-fried water spinach with chili – all sets come with steamed jasmine rice and fresh fruit.

Tandoor
We love Indian food and while Tandoor might not offer the best we've ever had, we're certainly not about to start complaining about their lunch deal, which will fill you up for the afternoon AND leave enough for leftovers. There are five vegetarian and meat options available (RMB 58-80), of which we tend to pick the vegetable curry set (RMB 58), with green salad, mint-yogurt sauce, vegetarian curry, seasonal vegetables, basmati rice, and bread – basically enough healthy veg to make you feel less guilty that you're eating takeout curry for lunch.

Home Plate BBQ
Hungover office workers around Beijing sighed with relief when the news came last week that Home Plate BBQ is finally available for delivery via Sherpa's. Home Plate have the same burger and salad sets (RMB 40-65) available for delivery as they do in the restaurant. We're all about the burger set B (RMB 65), which gives you a choice of sandwich (sliced brisket, chopped brisket, or classic cheese burger), side (potato salad, coleslaw, Texas ranch beans, french fries – and our personal favorite – creamed corn), and soft drink.
