Fifth Generation RMB 100 Note Announced, Into Circulation this November

This November, new RMB 100 bills will come into circulation with an improved design in order to fight fraud and the shocking amount of fake money in the system, the Beijing news reported today.

The new bills will look similar, but have new and improved security features: wider security strips with a bigger change in color to make it easier to identify fakes just by looking at it, two identification numbers per bill instead of one, and special magnetic technology embedded in the bill will make it easier for machines to recognize fakes, too. We can't wait, especially if this means that ATM machines will stop screwing us over by giving us multiple fake RMB 100 bills at a time.

Until then, as there's nothing worse than getting fake money, learn to distinguish the real from the not-so-real (or pretty damn fake on some occasions) before these new bills come into circulation later this year.
