Cancer is Beijing's Leading Cause of Death
Cancer is Beijing's leading cause of death for the past eight years, with lung cancer and breast cancer the "most common" for men and women, respectively, the Xinhua News Agency reported Monday.
Just over 27 percent of all deaths were attributed to cancer, with a rate of 168.9 deaths per 100,000 people.
More than 40,000 people were found to have cancer in Beijing in 2013, according to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, but did not indicate whether those were new cases or total cases.
Beijingers can still expect to live 81.81 years, just over a decade more than the global average of 71 for 2013, according to the World Health Organization.

Masks, air purifiers, yes... but the key is really clean safe food. I'd say that the food supply is the largest culprit in Beijing's cancer rates, at least those not related to the respiratory system.

No need for a mask then, especially as it does not protect you from getting breast cancer.

Better wear those masks and buy those air filters for the home!
