The Beijinger Seeks Editorial Interns!

The Beijinger is seeking web interns with an interest in events, blogging, new media and all-around web upkeep ... and drinking coffee rather than making it for the rest of us.

The ideal candidate is a fluent English speaker with fluent conversational Chinese (Chinese reading a definite plus). Laowais, Lao Beijings and Bei Piaos are all welcome to apply.

You should have a unique perspective, a strong passion for Beijing, and a drive to dig deeper into the city’s cultural scene.

Expected experience:
• You’ve written your way out of a paper bag.
• You know how to do research effectively by phone and the internet
• You can summarize English information efficiently and with style
• You’ve actually written things longer than a Tweet before (and can send us the links to prove it)
• You are organized and experienced working efficiently under pressure
• You have more than a fleeting understanding of this wonderful city of ours.

What you’ll do:
Everything under the sun ... writing blog posts, crafting event write-ups, moderating classifieds, answering forum posts, doing research over the internet and via the phone, fielding angry phone calls from irate and possibly insane real estate agents, drinking heavily at our monthly happy hours.

What you'll get:
• Your work exposed in front of a daily audience of 10,000 unique visitors, one of whom will inevitably hire you away from us
• Plenty of practical experience working on a real live functioning website
• A warm place to sit (in our office near Sanlitun) before the heat gets turned on in late November (and perhaps never if you live in a hutong)
• First dibs on the fancy stuff that gets sent to us on occasion, like gift baskets, vouchers, free food, and the like
• Experience with a real live functioning website
• A small stipend (read: cash) if you work at least part-time (20 hours/week)

If you’re interested, send us an email to info@thebeijinger.com that gives us a sense of your style, and with links to things you’ve written before and perhaps your LinkedIn profile.
