Checking In With Side Street Ahead of Their 7th Anniversary

This weekend, Side Street will be celebrating their seventh anniversary, so in honor of the big event, we thought we'd check in with the reigning champions of the Beijinger’s Juicy Burger Cup and see what they've been up to recently.

Two-Time Juicy Burger Cup Champs

Last June, Side Street clinched their second win in the Beijinger’s 2024 Juicy Burger Cup. They previously won the crown back in 2020, and you can read more about their path to victory in this interview with manager Saurabh. 

Jiangoumen Goes Plant-Based Crazy  

Side Street recently teamed up with Grassroots to launch a lineup of plant-based cheese creations at their Jianguomen branch. The star of the show? The Cheezy Beast Burger (pictured below) is a 100 percent vegan masterpiece featuring a plant-based patty stuffed with melty vegan cheddar. Even the sauces and bun are fully vegan, proving that you don’t need meat to make a mouthwatering burger.

That’s right – as we mentioned earlier, Side Street is turning seven, and they’re throwing a party to remember! Both locations  will be celebrating this weekend, Mar 15-16, with an irresistible RMB 84 Burger and Beer Combo. Burger Eating Contest!  

If you’ve got a competitive streak and an appetite to match, mark your calendar for 4pm tomorrow (Mar 15). Side Street is hosting a burger-eating contest at their Jiaodaokou location, with sign-ups available on the spot. The prize? A year of free burgers for the winner. That’s right – 365 days of burger bliss. Will you be the one to claim the crown?  

BYOB (Build Your Own Burger)  

Starting next Wednesday (Mar 20), Side Street is introducing a weekly Build Your Own Burger (BYOB) event at their Jiaodaokou branch. Every Wednesday, you’ll have the chance to create your ultimate burger masterpiece by choosing from 48 different proteins, buns, toppings, cheeses, and sides.  

We’re not mathematicians, but we asked our AI friend DeepSeek to crunch the numbers, and it estimated there could be over 360,000 different burger permutations. That’s a whole lot of delicious possibilities. Whether you’re a purist or an adventurous eater, BYOB Wednesdays are your chance to get creative. 

El Cholo 2.0: A Burger Worth Celebrating  

We couldn’t wrap up this post without giving a shoutout to one of Side Street’s most iconic creations: the El Cholo 2.0.
