Spooktacular Halloween Events in the Capital, Part One

It’s officially spooky season, and there are loads of Halloween happenings in Beijing this year. From themed parties and haunted walking tours to family-friendly activities and gourmet feasts, there is something for everyone. There are so many events, in fact, that we’ll be following up with a part two in a few days! But for now, let’s take a look at our first round of spooktacular events. 

Phantom Masquerade at the Four Seasons

The Four Seasons will be putting on a special Halloween-themed buffet dinner at Opus Lounge with delicacies like black truffle and king salmon. There will also be themed face painting and the venue will be transformed into a gothic wonderland complete with hand-carved jack-o-lanterns. You can read more about it here

A Night at the Circus at Universal Studios Red Dragon Lounge

Red Dragon Lounge at Universal Beijing Resort will be putting on a special Night at the Circus DJ Party on Oct 25. They’ll have Halloween-themed cocktails and shots sets, exclusive Halloween themed snacks, a live DJ, face painting and more scream-worthy fun.

Goose Island Halloween Carnival

At their Solana branch, Goose Island is putting on a Halloween-themed carnival with a range of classic arcade games to play, such as a claw machine, slot machine and darts. If you have a go at all three and then post on your social media, you’ll be entered into their lucky draw.

Special Halloween Offers at WhyNot Taproom

WhyNot Taproom will be launching a special Halloween Burger for spooky season (Oct 29-Nov 3) and they’ll also be giving free pierogis – a new autumn addition to their menu – to anyone who comes to the venue in a Halloween costume.

Halloween Buffet at Hilton Beijing: A Night of Frights and Feasts

The weekend after Halloween (Nov 1-3) the Hilton Beijing will be putting on a Halloween-themed buffet at Makan Kitchen. Along with great food like fresh crab and Halloween-themed desserts and drinks, they have a range of activities such as pumpkin carving, a Little Chef area for kids where the can make ghost cupcakes and a Halloween pitching and bowling game.

Halloween Carnival at Shangri-La Beijing

The Shangri-La will be putting on a variety of Halloween-themed experiences. At Café Cha there will be a Halloween feast with stilt walkers, magic shows, clowns, face painting and a haunted house adventure. At AZUR and Nishimura they’ve got special themed menus, and at the Lobby Lounge there is a Halloween-themed afternoon tea experience. Halloween Celebrations at EAST Beijing

EAST Beijing has a plethora of Halloween happenings this year. First up, they have a Halloween brunch at FEAST on Oct 26 and 27 with spooky décor, staff in full costume, themed desserts and more surprises. Xian is transforming into a haunted bar from Oct 25 to 31, complete with special drinks, and at Domain your little ones can make their own Halloween cookies. Halloween Haunted Walking Tour by Bizarre Beijing

Bizarre Beijing will be doing a special Halloween Haunted Walking Tour on Oct 30. On the tour, you’ll learn about Chinese ghost culture and history, get to explore the Old Execution Grounds at Caishikou and finish it all off with a visit to a haunted guild hall built over a graveyard! Nightmare on Side Street

Side Street’s Jianguomen branch will be throwing their annual Halloween party on Oct 26, and this year it’s going to be bigger, spookier, and more epic than ever! Entry for the party is free, but if you want to throw some drinks into the mix you can get 2.5 hours of free-flow beer and house mixers for RMB 199. Furry Tales Halloween Party and Adoption Event

Another Halloween happening at Side Street Jianguomen is Furry Tales’ Halloween party and adoption event. There will be drinks, snacks and a costume competition for the best-dressed human and pet. They’ll also have adoptable pets at the event and 100 percent of the ticket price will be donated to Furry Tales Animal Rescue.

Ghost Train Chapter 2: The Conjuring

SNST is back with the Ghost Train for the second year. This time, they’re diving deeper into terror with “The Conjuring.” Taking place inside an abandoned train in 751 District’s Locomotive Square on Oct 26, it’s going to be a chilling ride with exorcisms, sinister spirits, and lurking demons, plus plenty of alcohol and live music thrown in too. Jeepers Creepers at Timekeepers

For those lucky enough to have met Norwegian expat Nils while he was here, you’ll already be familiar with his epic Halloween parties. For those not in the know, in a nutshell they involved full-on decorations, crazy costumes,  silly Halloween games and great music. Although Nils has now left, Timekeepers will be throwing a Nils-style Halloween party on Nov 2 with classic games like pool challenges, beer pong and more. There will also be themed drinks and prizes for the best dressed.
