EAT: Migas Mercado Set Lunch, New Deals at Ramo, Not Your Baba's Baijiu Dinner
The set lunch at Migas in Sanlitun was always one of our favorites so we're happy to see Migas Mercado continuing that tradition. Their new lunch gives you a choice of a number of different starters and main courses for RMB 118 – bread and a snack are on the house. Options include Migas classic such as their homemade sausages, along with plenty of other modern Spanish dishes. If you're paralyzed by indecision, go for the paella set, including gazpacho, mushroom croquettes, and a portion of paella for RMB 75. We're looking forward the lunch menu, as well as their afternoon tea set and weekend brunch, on the huge terrace once the weather warms up.
Over in Lido, Ramo have a bunch of new deals that will – some of the literally – put a spring in your step. Show the staff your WeChat step counter and if you have walked more than 10,000 steps you'll get RMB 10 off a salad and RMB 20 off for 20,000 steps (no word on what you crazy kids who walk more than 30,000 steps get ...). Counter all that calorie counting with happy hour drinks at RMB 35 from 3-7pm every day and on Monday pair that with BOGOF pizzas. See poster above for more details.
Baijiu is the most widely consumed spirit in the world yet it enjoys a (not entirely unearned) reputation for being more akin to a rough and ready firewater that is pretty much only good for downing in vast quantities at weddings and business dinners. The Opposite House believe that it is time for a baijiu dinner where flavor and taste are savored and celebrated – this is Not Your Baba’s Baijiu Dinner. Chef Li Dong and the baijiu experts at Capital Spirits have teamed up to put on an evening of delicious Jing Yaa Tang favorites paired with two different baijiu cocktails and four different, and indeed, delicious brands of premium baijiu. The dinner is priced at RMB 488 per person, including five courses and the aforementioned baijiu.
Finally, if wine of the red or white variety is more your thing, be sure to head down to any branch of Cheers before Mar 31, where they are offering 20 percent off all South African wines. We're particular fans of the Tussock Jumper Chenin Blanc.
