Five Spooky Taobao Rear Window Stickers to Help You Horrify Beijing's Drivers

You grip the steering wheel, your knuckles white, eyes widening, breath short, before resisting the urge to stomp on the brakes and literally veer off the road.

What could be the source of such momentary terror? Why, the sight of a gruesome goblin in the rear window of the car ahead of you, of course. And while that scary image left you temporarily rattled, it doesn't take long for you to roll your eyes at the realization that the creepy creature is merely a rear window Halloween sticker, which has become one of the hottest selling seasonal items on Taobao, with one store owner.

These stickers have proven so effective that one woman recently complained to the police, according to the Beijing Morning Post (via EJ Insight), saying that she almost had a heart attack and that she braked vigorosuly in order to maintain some distance from the "ashen face of a girl looking out of the rear window of the car in front of hers."

And while many local expats do not drive here (because the thought of navigating the capital's traffic is the only thing more terrifying than the sight of such spooky rear window stickers), nearly everyone in the city has a friend or colleague with license, and a good enough sense of humor, to offer these stickers as a gift.

A (literally) bloody ghost (RMB 384.60)
Not for the faint of heart, this sticker depicts a pale, gore-soaked demon reaching out at the car behind it. If this won't stop pesky drivers from tailgating other cars and flashing their high beams at them, then nothing will.

If subtly is more your thing (and if you think the bloody ghost listed above is too pricey), then we suggest you buy this more G-Rated sticker of what appears to be the well dwelling antagonist from the hit horror flick Ring.

Creepy canine eyes (RMB 65)
For the animal lover in your life who is also a prankster. This sticker of yellow, wolfish eyes will startle anyone who glimpses it, leaving the owner laughing so hard that they'll howl at the moon.

A Marilyn Manson lookalike peeking from behind the blinds (RMB 98)
