Actually for me it's not the “站” at the end of the station names that draws my attention; it's the “地铁” at the beginning! We see in the photo accompanying the article: “地铁顺义站”. Do we really need the two characters "地铁“ at the beginning of the name? It's the name of the particular station (顺义) that is the most important bit of information, so it should be first. Wouldn't "顺义地铁站" be more logical and ever-so-slightly-more practical?
Or is this yet another chapter in the ongoing series of me incorrectly superimposing a linguistic structure from my mother tongue onto Chinese? *smile*
I've been studying at Purple Bamboo already for 4 months and feeling very happy with my decision! The team is great and cooperative, flexible schedule, and interactive teaching methods. Highly recommend this school
Dogs eat grass when they have bad stomach. Since most of the owners are feeding dogs with human foor, which basically is not good for dogs, their stomach gets iritated and then they eat grass to ease the belly pain. There is something in the grass, the acidity of it, that helps them. Dogs should not eat human food. Spicy, salty, sweet... all that is not good for dogs. Google is your friend. Oh, wait, Google is forbiden in China... Knowledge can only hurt. No wonder people here are puzzled with everything. Everything is bizzare, when it is quite normal and common.
Woe unto them that call good evil; and evil good; putrid tasty, and tasty putrid. Those of the sect of the stinky toufu and assorted abominations before the LORD, shall be recompensed sevenfold for their iniquity. 粥 drinkers and purveyors, 凤爪 hawkers, glutinous rice peddlars, ( and other nasty food!stuffs) repent!
As a ‘dog mom’, I definitely support allowing dogs in restaurants because I know Luna is well trained and will behave in such place, and I am sure we will cause no problems or chaos for the dining owner.
On the main page under the headline you state "Like living in any major cities, anyone who has lived here long enough will notice that Beijing is never a friendly city to pedestrians.". No, not in any major city. In China. I am sure they are not driving like this in Berlin or Vienna for example...

The scooter drivers are the problem here, not car drivers.
And, boyyyyyyy, are the scooter drivers a problem. No one walking is safe from the scourge of the scooter drivers. Personally I root for the cars to take them out one by one.

Imma guess she's referencing all of the instances of deliberate dog/cat poisoning in Beijing communities.

For such a travesty, said dog should be banished to the streets where multiple scooter drivers will dispatch it permanently.

How about teaching kids from an early age how to swim.... Maybe then they wouldn't drown in such numbers when they grow up.

Either way, nothing will change. Us walkers risk our lives everytime we go to the market.

Re: Beijing Insists it Will Finally Enforce Pedestrian Right...
If you read carefully, you'll find there is no contradiction.
It's not the law that cars may refuse to yield to pedestrians.
It is the law that they must.

I'm "literally" dying to know how this "system" will be "enforced".
On paper, maybe. AFK, nope.
