Try These Brewtiful Beers This Weekend & Beyond

The Mid-Autumn Festival holiday is set to kick off soon, so why not welcome the holiday weekend with a nice cold beer?

We’ve got three intriguing offerings on this list, and we’re hop-timistic these brews will make for good weekend tippling. So, beer we go…

Yorkshire Gets a Special Bitter at The Factory

The Factory and Oak & Iron are back at it again with their cask ale system, this time adding a twist to the English Special Bitter (ESB) style with the addition of Yorkshire Gold Tea, calling it the Bitter Yorkshire, English Tea Special Bitter. It’ll only be available this Sun, Sep 15, so if you don't want to miss the chance to try the combination of two quintessential British things – beer and tea – in one, you'd better head over to The Factory!

To make it even more of a British Sunday, The Factory will also be offering a Sunday Roast. Expect tender, slow-roasted 100 percent Australian beef served with Yorkshire pudding – a must – plus other classic sides like roasted potatoes, broccoli, carrots, and cheesy cauliflower in a cheddar sauce.

Pre-booking is RMB 99 per set and RMB 120 on the day of, but it’s best to book fast as there are only 30 plates available (scan the QR code in the poster above to book). Plus, when you book a Sunday Roast set, you’ll be able to enjoy RMB 10 off all of The Factory’s British beers, from the Chinness to the Wee Bit Bourbon and more.

Lervig Returns to Slowboat Shichahai

Slowboat’s High Five Tap Takeover series is back at their Shichahai Taproom, kicking off yesterday (Sep 12), it sees Norway’s Lervig Brewing teaming up with Slowboat to showcase a number of barrel-aged beers. These barrel-aged brews are all dark and brooding, with most of them being wildly differing takes on the imperial stout and other strong styles.

Two that caught our eye from the menu are the Off the Rack Port BA Imperial Stout (RMB 92/250 ml), aged for nine months in Portuguese tawny port barrels that lend the beer notes of spiced red fruits, stewed cherries, and raisins, and the Paragon 2022 Bourbon BA Barley Wine (RMB 92/250 ml), which boasts notes of dried figs, raisins, vanilla, caramel, toffee, and chocolate.

You can see the rest of the menu here and get nice and toasty as these beers help you gear up for autumn. The Lervig beers are available until stock runs out, so it’s best to try them as soon as possible.

Beersmith x Shingo Gokan Collab Beers on Tap

Missed the visit by legendary Japanese bartender Shingo Gokan to Beersmith this past Saturday? While the cocktails Gokan cooked up with his very own spirit brand Kokuto de Lequio were a one and done thing, the beers made with the spirits by Beersmith brew master Jon Therrian are available throughout the month.

These beers are the Kokuto Dark Strong Ale (RMB 65/330 ml, RMB 75/460 ml), which is brewed with the eponymous Kokuto de Lequio, made from Okinawan black sugar, and the Sober Higbhall Pils (RMB 55/330 ml, RMB 65/440 ml), which is brewed with Kokuto de Lequio Yambaru Spiced Rum.
