Plans for Redevelopement of Nali Patio Open for Public Comment

Plans for the redevelopment of Nali Patio have been submitted for public comment and participation via the Beijing Municipal Commission of Regulations website, according to a report on WeChat news account Jiazhu Chaoyang (家住朝阳).

Dubbed "Sanlitun North Street Urban Renewal Project", the call for public comment will be open for seven days, and includes a glimpse of what might become of the Nali Patio complex. From the looks of what's to come, it's going to be a complete departure from the Nali Patio of old.

For a start, everything looks to be more symmetrical and open, with large outward-facing windows and a lot of connecting bridges and outdoor space. The plans also boast a more open entrance leading into the complex.

Whether or not it's going to be a shopping development or shopping with dining remains to be seen. Plus there's no telling on if the plans might change following the seven day public comment period.

Nali Patio has gone through quite the saga since the property owners withdrew the previous landlord's sublease, with rumors of closure and demolition surfacing then and again in February 2023 before coming to fruition last summer.

Even though all the restaurants and bars in the complex have since moved out and found new homes, it's going to be sad to see the old building gone if these plans go through.
