Get Inspired With Jane Goodall Documentary Screening This Friday (Apr 12)
Nature lovers and documentary enthusiasts in Beijing, you're in for a treat: This Friday (Apr 12) JinShang Yuan will be putting on a special screening of the acclaimed documentary Jane, a film that explores the remarkable life and legacy of renowned primatologist Jane Goodall.
Drawing from 100 hours of never-before-seen footage from the National Geographic Archives, preserved for over 50 years and directed by Brett Morgen, Jane transports viewers to the lush forests of Gombe, Tanzania, where Goodall's pioneering work forever changed our understanding of primate behavior and conservation.
The documentary follows Goodall's extraordinary career, from her early days studying chimpanzees in the wild to her emergence as a global icon of environmental activism. It showcases Goodall's unwavering passion for wildlife conservation and her lifelong dedication to protecting the natural world.
There is also a personal story behind the screening of Jane at JinShang Yuan, with Goodall having actually stayed there back in 2019 when she was visiting Beijing. Founder and Design Director of JinShang Group Lilian Tian tells the Beijinger "Jane Goodall is the most remarkable individual I've had the privilege to meet in my lifetime so far. I've eagerly followed her for all of her speeches and events, it is like a sunflower follows the sun. She is the light and she is energy.

The event falls not long after Goodall’s 90th birthday on Apr 3, so what better way to celebrate her continued legacy than by heading to JinShang Yuan to watch Jane this Friday? Along with the screening, there will be a raffle where you will have the chance to win your own Mr. H. – Goodall’s soft toy travel companion – and there will also be a BIG SURPRISE!
The screening of Jane will take place at JinShang Yuan's Garden Theater at 7pm, Friday Apr 12. Tickets are RMB 88, including snacks and drinks, and can be purchased by scanning the QR code in the poster above.
