Get Ready To Veg Out: Meatless March Challenge Returns to Beijing
Have you ever thought about going vegan or vegetarian? Or, perhaps, do you want to lower your meat consumption in general? Well then, the Meatless March challenge is the perfect place to start!
Meatless March is an annual event running Mar 1-31 that invites individuals worldwide to embark on a journey toward reducing their meat, dairy and egg consumption. Organized by Vegans of Beijing and Modern Vegan, this month-long challenge encourages you to set a personal goal of adhering to a vegan or vegetarian diet throughout March.
To help you along the way, Jennifer Morgenthaler of Vegans of Beijing and Alex Ogden of Modern Vegan will provide daily recipes and resources to support participants on their meatless journey. The challenge will also include meetups, activities, weekly raffles, and mini-challenges in various participating cities.
Yes, this year the challenge is going beyond Beijing and has collaborated with vegan community leaders from Shanghai, Guangzhou, Qingdao, and Nanjing, who will host events in their respective cities. These events aim to welcome participants into vibrant vegan communities and provide valuable support throughout the challenge.
What are the benefits of going meatless?
Unless you’ve been living under a rock these past few years, you’ll know the importance of navigating towards a more sustainable future, and the Meatless March challenge is a small, personal way you can make your own meaningful impact. By taking on the challenge participants can move towards improving their health while also contributing significantly to environmental conservation and advocating for animal welfare.
There is also a grand prize for the completion of the mini-challenges provided by one of the challenge's sponsors, Four Points by Sheraton in Tianjin. They will be offering a luxurious night's stay coupled with a delectable multiple-course plant-based dinner for two.
Other generous sponsors include Oatly, Zrou, Yeyo, cruelty-free beauty brands, sustainable activewear, and other vegan small businesses without whom this challenge wouldn’t be possible.
How do you get involved?
The Meatless March challenge runs Mar 1-31 and is completely free to join! Participants can simply sign up by scanning the QR code in the poster below (please mention MEATLESS MARCH in the friend request) to be added to the dedicated Challenge Group.
