Veg-Jing Out: Vegan and Vegetarian Options for Taco Tuesday
Taco Tuesday is once again upon us, but what kind of options are out there if you’re vegan or vegetarian?
Thankfully, quite a few from some of the city’s finest purveyors of Mexican cuisine.
Vegan Tacos and Quesadillas – Q Mex Taqueria
The more taco-focused offshoot of Q Mex has a plethora of vegan offerings on its menu. These include fried and guajillo “chicken” and vegan chorizo tacos (pictured), and red chili shredded “chicken”, chorizo and avocado quesadillas.

Taco de Jamaica – Las Musas
Las Musas brings the sour punch of hibiscus to their vegan taco option, which sees the flower combined with vegan chorizo, fresh avocado, pico de gallo and tinga sauce. As a set of three it’s a perfect dinner, especially combined with one of their margaritas.

Tacos and Other Vegan Offerings – Pebbles Courtyard
Pebbles up along Wudaoying offers a variety of vegan options. They have vegan tinga and vegan chorizo tacos, as well as vegan tinga enchiladas. Also, while it’s no longer on the menu, the restaurant can swap out the nopales (cactus) in their nopales tacos for black beans and guacamole upon request.
They've also got a strictly vegetarian option in the form of their Guac-attack Torta: deep fried avocado, guacamole, coleslaw and chipotle aioli combined with pickled chiles, black beans and cheese.

El Vegetariano Tacos – El Barrio
This offering from the shop atop Nali Patio sees sautéed mixed vegetables combined with chipotle mayo and some cashews and pumpkin seeds for a little bit of crunch.
