Ski resorts in Chongli set to close for Olympics: Seven ski resorts located in Zhangjiakou’s Chongli District will stop accepting guests in the leadup to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, the city’s Culture and Tourism Bureau said in a statement. From Jan 4 to Mar 30, 2022 Wanlong Ski Resort, Fulong Ski Resort, Taiwoo Ski Area, Genting Ski Park, Dolomiti Town Ski Area, Cuiyun Mountain International Tourism Resort, and Changcheng Mountain Ski Area will be closed to the public.
The district will host cross-country skiing, ski jump, biathlon, and snowboarding Olympic events, which will take place from Feb 4-20, followed by the Paralympics in March. Other scenic areas in Zhangjiakou remain open, however, tourists will need to show negative PCR test results from within 48 hours of their arrival.
Beijing Stock Exchange marks first month with good turnover: The BSE has had a smooth first month of trading, with total transactions reaching RMB 47.897 billion, the exchange said in a statement sent to the Global Times Dec 14.
In the statement, the BSE said trading during its first month has had a “significant effect on improving market liquidity and boosting investment sentiment.” Among the 82 shares traded on the market, 11 rallied in November, with an average gain of 110.84 percent.
Three airlines add new routes to and from Daxing Airport: Three new domestic airlines have set up shop at Daxing International Airport as of Dec 15. Tibet Airlines, Tianjin Airlines, and Guangxi Beibu Gulf – aka GX – Airlines have started offering departures from the airport, with a route of interest being Daxing-Chengdu-Shigatse operated by Tibet Airlines.
