Feeling thirsty? Wet your whistle with Booze News, our wrap-up of the week's best bar deals, parties, drink concoctions, industry gossip, and more.
Camera Stylo updates their look and drinks menu
Not content with being one of the best independent film venues in the city, Camera Stylo has now completely overhauled their downstairs bar area and expanded its menu to include a range of film-themed cocktails, all priced RMB 45 (including the God Father, Yoda Soda, and Taste of Cherry, just to name a few). The management has also installed new draft beer taps and recruited the help of Simple Cafe to oversee their coffee production – couple that with the venue's rooftop, vintage store, and extended hours (daily, 1pm-2am), and it becomes one of the newest all-in-one bars in the area.
Mikkeller tap takeover at Zhujingban
Andingmen's rotating beer concept bar Zhujingban is preparing to welcome their next guest brewery to their taps: Danish craft brew heavyweights Mikkeller. Founded in 2006, Mikkeller went from a home-brew project between two friends to one of the most well-regarded beer companies in the world, respected for their willingness to experiment and create batches of innovative beers (the bold label designs don't hurt either). Zhujingban has secured 20 of those said beers to rotate during Mikkeller's two-month takeover, starting Sep 1 until Nov 1, 4pm-2am daily. Meanwhile, to say farewell to the current brewery, Stone Brewing, Zhujingban has prepared a bunch of discounts to make sure no drop goes unfinished. Bottega wine pop-up
Bottega has joined China Wines & Spirits and Vesuvio Wines to bring its diners pop-up wine shop at their Xinyuanli location, Aug 29-31, 5.30-9.30pm. Packed with 50 wines at wholesale prices, drop by and try free tastings as well as get expert advice from on-site sommeliers throughout.
Café de la Poste ready to reopen following extensive renovations
Following news that Café de la Poste had to finally close after weeks operating as little more than a doorless bomb shelter, the team is now ready to unveil their newly refurbished space to the world, and it looks pretty swank! Keeping the same oxblood walls, the venue looks bigger and better than ever and is even the proud owner of a multi-color LED skylight, which sounds wild. Go and help the team douse the new paint with a much-needed layer of Pastis this Friday and Saturday evening for their official soft reopening party. Café de la Poste, you are truly a miracle. See the progress as it unfurled below:
