EAT: New Menu at Pizza Marzano, New Deals at Gung Ho!, Palms x Slow Boat Chef Collaboration

Italian-style chain Pizza Marzano (formerly Pizza Express) have a new menu out in time for spring, including plenty of light-sounding dishes. Highlights are the avocado and prosciutto crostini, as well as three new pizzas: the sapori de montagna, inspired by the mountains of northern Italy and topped with mushrooms, truffle, and ricotta; the quattro carni, featuring (you guessed it) four different types of meat; and the nettuno dio del mare, topped with prawns, scallops, and New Zealand mussels. It's not all carbs, either; the menu also boasts a superfood salad and several healthy sounding mains such as halibut with roast fennel. Look also for them to open a branch in the new Hopson One Mall in Shuangjing sometime in February (which is home to around 200 other food and drink outlets).

Speaking of pizza (which we often are), Gung Ho! have recently released some new weekday deals. On Monday, get 20 percent off all vegetarian dishes when you dine in or take away, which includes options like their spinach pesto and smoked tofu pizza, roasted veggie salad, and gluten-free cheese bread balls. On Tuesday, enjoy two pizzas for the price of one when you dine in or get a complimentary pizza upsize when you dine in. To be completely honest, we were pretty sad to see them get rid of their Monday buy-one-get-one-free salads deal (a staple lunch option in the Beijinger office) but, on the other hand, we're all for new meat-free Monday initiatives.

Slow Boat is back with a new Chef Collaboration. This time they have given one of their staple dishes – fried chicken wings – a twist, teaming up with the mastermind behind Palms L.A. Kitchen and Bar, Michael Tsai, to introduce some Korean flavors. The chicken wings are fried and then tossed with butter-sautéed kimchi, green onions, and black sesame seeds. Mildly spicy and extra juicy, they are perfectly shareable (only if you choose to).

Hatsune have also released their latest off-menu seasonal special, this time featuring two very different contrasting rolls. The Black Swan Roll has a pretty bold new look, featuring black rice rolled up with silky foie gras, crisp fried millet, and fire-torched unagi. In stark contrast, the Yuzu Blossom Roll is light and pretty, topped with fresh tuna sashimi, filled with creamy avocado and white yams, and finished with edible flowers. We love all of Hatsune's rolls (catch us eating the Amy roll and the Butterfly roll on the regular), so we're excited to try these new additions.
