Tasty Lunch Deals to Carry You Through Fall

With colder temperatures really setting in, finding the motivation to get up and out of the office at lunchtime can be a struggle. However, make the effort and you'll be rewarded with plenty of tempting lunch specials (not to mention the knowledge that you are avoiding the inevitable mountain of trash generated when you order take away). Read on for a few of our favorite lunch deals of the current season.

Bistrot B
Bistrot B's lunch menu (RMB 170 for two courses, RMB 190 for three courses) is full of the kind of dishes we want to eat in autumn – French onion soup, croque madame with fries, and baba au rhum. They also offer a rotating "roast of the day," including options like roast chicken, pork belly, and harissa-spiced lamb leg. Portions are huge so be prepared to fight off a nap once you're back in the office.

Caravan
On Guanghua Lu, Caravan has just launched a new set of weekday lunch specials. RMB 88 gets you a two-course meal plus a drink (including the option of a cheeky lunchtime G&T, if you're so inclined), with two different options to choose from per course. Options include meat-free Mondays, Tajine Thursdays, and couscous Fridays – full menu details above.

Migas Mercado
Migas Mercado's bustling, market-inspired space is a great spot for a casual bite to eat or a special treat – especially if you want to impress your dining partner with a view of some of Beijing's most recognizable architecture. Their RMB 68 set lunch allows you to choose a main course – fish and chips, paella of the day, grilled homemade sausages, or bagel sandwich and chips – and a side from a selection of six. They also offer a selection of Traitor Zhou's bagel sandwiches to eat in or take away.

Slow Boat Sanlitun Brewpub
Slow Boat's former Burger Cup-winning burgers are not just for beer-fueled evenings. During weekday lunches, get a classic cheeseburger, with a choice of fries or salad, and a soft drink for RMB 70. Other lunch options include a salad, dessert (white chocolate creme brulee), and juice for RMB 55 and fried chicken, pickles, and a draft beer for RMB 60 (if your job allows for a cheeky beer on a weekday).

Village Cafe
The Opposite House's Village Cafe has always been one of our favorite spots for lunch and none more so than since they revamped their menu earlier this year. While they don't have a set lunch per se, you can add an iced tea and a soup to any main course (grab one of their popular poke bowls or try the beef rendang grilled cheese and thank us later) for RMB 25. Considering the very tasty tom yum soup is usually RMB 38, it's definitely a steal.
