Beijing Brunchy McBrunch-Face: 4 Best New Brunches in Town

Nevermind being outside: there's plenty to do on weekends even if that plenty to do is purely brunch. You've seen all brunches, you say? Think again! Check out these four new top Beijing brunches.

Slow Boat (also pictured at top)
After releasing new week day lunch deals a month ago, Slow Boat Brewpub is now branching out into weekend brunch, catering to our cravings for light and puffy pancake stacks and meaty sausage medleys, only available on weekends, 11am-3pm. We jumped on the opportunity to be the first to try their new menu, ignoring the fact that it was well into the afternoon when we were settling down to eat brunch, and made the short five-minute walk from our office to gorge on the new items, each thoughtfully presented with their own beer pairing.

Migas
With the mercury dropping rapidly, our thoughts are turning to soups and stews, mulled wine, and hot chocolate. Clearly the folks in Migas kitchen are on the same page because they have just updated their brunch offering to what they call "The Spoon Brunch." The "spoon" refers to the fact that the offerings are made up of spoonable dishes; the type to be served family-style, in big portions. There will be a weekly rotating stew selection, such as hot, smouldering pots of lentils with chorizo or escudella (a traditional Catalan stew).

Napa
With The Rug's Chaoyang Park location still under renovations (their Sanlitun branch is still going strong), brunch options in the Chaoyang Park area were looking pretty scant. Thankfully for those of us in need of weekend sustenance, fellow Chaoyang Park occupants, Napa, have just launched their first brunch menu. This may be brunch, but the biggest attraction is undoubtedly the pizzas (also available on their dinner menu). The Napa team have painstakingly built a wood-fired pizza oven on the second floor of the restaurant, turning out tasty pies with bases that offer the perfect balance of crispy and tender spots.

Tribe Organic
Tribe may have just about perfected creating meals that comfort without leaving you slumped over the table. At a recent tasting event, the Tribe kitchen introduced 11 new dishes from their autumn-winter menu for lucky attendees to try, including items such as quinoa oats and fig porridge, Muscleman’s egg-white muffin, electrifying egg-white wrap, and kale and pumpkin salad.
