Get Freaky and Celebrate 6 Years of Street Kids with Vanilla Killer, Apr 22

It’s been six years since Street Kids assembled, seemingly unimpressed by the lack of street culture present on the Beijing club circuit. We remember the madness of last year’s anniversary party when they transformed The Bar at Migas into a ghetto-fabulous dancehall, outfitted with graffiti, a skateboarding theme, and music that drove the kids wild. Or maybe it was just that Street Kids' signature cocktail, consisting of Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum mixed with Beibingyang soda and a tanghulu garnish made everyone on that scandalous night bounce off the walls in intoxicated bliss.

It’s this sort of fusion of local and imported street culture that they have promoted in the capital that has helped them remain relevant over the past six years. They have worked their fingers to the thuggish, ruggish bone, bringing over some of the trillest DJs and producers on Earth, like Mochipet, Goth-Trad, and Nguzungzu, to repeatedly blow minds in the Beijing dance music scene.

This year’s anniversary, Friday, Apr 22, at Dada, will be no different as they enlist the skills of Vanilla Killer from Barcelona, Spain. Equal bits sweet and deadly, her sultry mix of footwork and jungle will inject you with a poison, for which dancing is the only antidote. Her sound finds a common thread between aggressive rhythms, sub-bass, and atmospheric beauty, creating a unique blend of styles that has propelled her to sharing stages with legends like DJ Barely Legal, DMX Krew, Slugabed, Mouse on Mars, and Svreca.

On this monumental (with emphasis on mental) evening, Vanilla Killer will be accompanied by Street Kid stalwarts, DJs Mu Dirtydishes, Yauman, and Ludo V. These local favorites will be rolling dirty on the decks to warm things up and raise energy levels to maximum capacity till dawn. Find more info in the event listing here
