Eat Hot Dogs on Global Meatout Day this Weekend
Yeah yeah, so as if turning off our lights for an hour on Saturday isn't enough, now some other group wants us to not eat meat on Sunday. I mean, even during Lent we can eat meat or whatever. Next they'll be saying that the climate is changing or something.
But the 74 Veggie Hotdogs people is making Meatout on March 20 interesting. Instead of a lettuce leaf seasoned with vinegar, the Xinyuan Jie vegetarian hot dog purveyors showed us some photos (see above) of what they'll be serving, and well, looks good to us.
The point of Meatout Day is to demonstrate that health and environmental benefits of going without meat, and offering the opportunity for participants to try new, non-meat options. We like that last part.
Follow them on WeChat, and on March 19-21, buy any two hot dogs and the lower-priced one is free. Sounds tasty.
74 Veggie Hotdogs was careful to point out that they are vegetarian, not vegan, and that some of their products contain dairy.
For other non-meat choices, see our list of 2016 Beijinger Reader Restaurant awards winners for Best Vegetarian here.
