EAT: FOoDiEs Charity Dinner, New Atmosphere Brunch, Madrid Fusion Manila 2016

We have lots of news following the Beijinger's 2016 Reader Restaurant Awards, as would be expected.

Hatsune in Wukesong is currently still soft opening, for those of you living far out west. Nyonya Kitchen is planning to open a new restaurant on the fifth floor of the new China World Mall, expecting to open in September.

On top of that, The Local, after hosting a successful custom-designed dinner for a large group of vegans, has decided to include several of the items onto their spring menu, including an Oyster Mushroom Po'Bay and Vegan Buffalo Wings, which Beijing-based vegan organizer Mike Shaw calls "to die for."

There's also some great events: this time the FOoDiEs dinner is going to be held at Cacha Cacha, at only RMB 100 for a ten-course sharing meal (including a drink), this is the best way to get introduced to Sanlitun's newest and arguably most traditional Thai restaurant at a really decent price, while supporting charity. There's also a whole lot of new brunching to be done around town. Not only has Migas launched their new pintxos brunch, but Atmosphere at the China World Summit Wing has also launched its own new brunch. Their concept is slightly different, with a menu of 28 items from which you can keep ordering. Brunch runs 11am-3pm every weekend, and costs RMB 298 per person, with an additional RMB 188 getting you free-flow beer, house wines, champagne, and Atmosphere's cocktails (subject to 15 percent service charge). Our favorites from their huge selection included the mini burger with fried onions, and the poached egg with lobster sauce on chorizo and an English muffin.
 

If you prefer to spend your time in the kitchen, there's a huge gastronomy conference, Madrid Fusion Manila 2016, in Manila from April 7 to 9. The event is hoping to attract chefs from Beijing's best restaurants too, so check out their website for more information if you are interested in attending.
