Second NanShan FreeSki Open Set for Sunday, Jan 24

Think you're hot stuff on the ski slopes? Then the Second NanShan FreeSki Open is your chance for snowbound glory.

Happening on Sunday, January 24 at Mellowpark Nanshan Ski Village, the event is open to all nationalities. Although previous editions featured snowboarding, this year's event is specifically for skiers, the two-board kind.

There are two main competitions: the FreeSki Jam Session, and the SlopeStyle Final. The first part will be held on the intermediate run at Mellowpark Nanshan, and will feature prizes for best kicker trick; best rail trick; youngest rider; oldest rider; best dressed; best spin; best slam; best grab; and best flip.

The SlopeStyle Final will be held on Mellowpark Nanshan's advanced run. Each run has two kickers and two rails, and participants each get two runs to make their mark. Judges will score skiers based on the entire run. Prizes will be awarded to men and women, with men garnering awards from first to sixth place, and women being awarded from first to third.

We're not sure why it's referred to as the second open, since the event appears to have been held since 2003, but, whatever. To register, use this form. More information (in Chinese) here.
