'Phantom of the Opera' (in English) On Until Jan 10, Tickets Still Available

If you're sticking around Beijing for Christmas and New Year's, why not check out Phantom of the Opera (performed in English) before it closes on January 10? Spending the festive season in Beijing doesn't have to be all work and no play.

The show, based on a novel by French writer Gaston Leroux about historical events at the Paris Opera during the 19th century, is an apocryphal tale concerning the use of a former ballet pupil's skeleton in Carl Maria's von Weber's 1841 production of Der Freischutz.

This eagerly-awaited performance runs until January 3 at the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center with performances happening in the evenings on weekdays, and both during the day and in the evening on Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets are still available for most sessions, although the cheapest price category (RMB 380 or RMB 480 depending on the day and time) has sold out.
