EAT: Bottega x Mio Dining Experience; New Eats in Liangmaqiao, Xingfucun
Two of Beijing's top Italian chefs, master pizzaiolo Paolo Salvo from Bottega and famed Chef Aniello Turco from Mio, are teaming up for a special dinner event on Tuesday, December 8, that will put a molecular spin on classic Italian dishes. At RMB 268 per person, the four-course menu will be an interesting showcase of what these two very different restaurants can do when they put their heads together. Be sure to book ASAP (call 6416 1752) – last-minute seats are going fast. Don't worry if you can't make this round, Bottega are looking to run more collaborations with Beijing's top restaurants in the future.
Meanwhile, it seems Liangmaqiao's Grand Summit is becoming quite the dining destination. In addition to Baker & Spice and Pizza Express, as of December 5, Grand Summit is home to the fourth branch of one of our favorite dumpling purveyors, Green Bites. Speaking of healthy food done well, Obentos' new location in Grand Summit is also official in soft opening mode, with opening hours from 11am-10pm. They'll be introducing breakfast over the next few weeks. The menu looks to be a departure from their previous "healthy bento boxes and salads" concept, with more sit-down, sharing dishes. We'll keep you posted.
One of Beijing's longest running Vietnamese restaurant's, Muse, has opened Muse Express on Xinfucun Zhonglu, in the strip of shops opposite April Gourmet. A glance at the menu suggests they're focusing on just a couple of classic dishes to keep things simple – pho, banh mi, and summer rolls. We're not sure Muse's pho is the best in town, but it doesn't hurt to have another quick and filling lunch option in the area.
