Comptoirs de France Introduces New Hearty Lunch Sets, Treats, Just in Time for Winter

Award-winning (Outstanding cafe; Outstanding cakes, cookies, and pastries; Outstanding breads) Comptoirs de France have come out with some good value lunch sets just in time for winter.

The sets make the most of Comptoirs' newly launched winter warmer soups (all RMB 36), including an incredibly creamy carrot-pumpkin soup, a homemade minestrone that is a world away from our guilt please of from-a-can Heinz, and an umami-rich cream of mushroom.

There are three lunch sets available, the best value of which to our minds is the "Vegetarian Taste" (RMB 68), including a vegetable omelet, a choice of soup, and a mini pastry. Bigger appetites can go for the "Fapai Lovers" (RMB 86) (a sandwich/panini/salad, a choice of soup, and a full-sized pastry) while couples can choose the set for two (RMB 128) (two soups, a sandwich/panini to share, and four mini pastries).

Add RMB 10 to any set to get a coffee alongside.

As ever, Comptoirs' patisserie game is on point. We were impressed with their new flavors of eclairs (RMB 30), particularly the hazlenut and the mango-passionfruit, but where they have really outdone themselves is with the Yao Chen Croissant (RMB 18), an ordinary croissant made extraordinary with a thick coating of white and dark chocolate, created by actress Yao Chen herself. We think that she might be trying to fatten us up ...
