Pizza My Mind: Italian’s Dream Team Includes La Pizza, Ramo, Pizza+

With voting in the 2015 Pizza Cup due to open this Sunday (Oct 25), we continue our Pizza My Mind series in which we probe Beijingers from all walks on their pizza preferences. Today we hear from Italian Nicoló Campagnari, an Account Manager in Investment Company, who lives in the Guomao area.

"I am a real pizza lover, supporter of slow food and family-run food businesses," he says. "Since my first day in Beijing, I have been on a desperate search for the best pizza in town. Living and dining in Beijing has brought some multiculturalism into my pizza views, and I’ve gone from a 'pizza Nazi' to become more of a 'pizza Democrat.' I can proudly say I've tried a good 80 perfect of the "pizzerie" available in Beijing, and I’m confident I can easily pick my pizza dream team from those experiences."

Here are Nicolo's Pizza Dream Team picks:

For when you want a taste of home:
When I miss the real Italian style pizza, I head to La Pizza’s Sanlitun venue to order my "off the menu" margherita with buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and basil. Accompanied with a Birra Peroni, the taste of home is served.

For a pint out with the gang:
Definitely Ramo, very good pizza that can be order by the slice. You to go to Ramo for the friendly and laid-back atmosphere. They have a good selection of bottled beers as well as a few good bottles of really good wine. The Quattro Formaggi pizza is cheezy-licious.

For home delivery when you're too lazy to make dinner
When I feel  lazy at home and a nice hot pizza is all I want, without any doubts I call Pizza+. Their special Forest Pizza – a white pizza with walnuts and black truffle – is simply amazing. The pizza has a thin crust and it is cooked in an electric/gas oven (as opposed to a traditional wood-fired oven), but the final result is simply amazing!
