Q MEX Edges out The Local to Book Spot in Pizza Cup Taste-Off Finals

Q MEX won a close contest over The Local in this afternoon’s Bracket C Pizza Cup Taste-Off, with Annie’s and La Pizza brining up the rear.

They now punch their ticket to the finals on Dec 18, where they will once again have a shot at the title.

The pie that netted them their victory was the Mexican Supreme, which features a fairly standard combo that's spiced up a bit with their signature spicy beef chorizo.

Coming in hot on Q MEX's heels was runner up The Local, which served a crowd-pleasing pizza featuring grilled chicken, foraged morel mushrooms, scallions and sesame.

When all the votes were counted, Q MEX netted 42 votes to The Local’s 39. Annie’s ended up with 11 votes and La Pizza 10.

Q MEX have fared well in previous Pizza Cups, consistently rising in the rankings since their Cup debut in 2015, when they placed 23rd. They came closest to winning it all in 2019, coming in second behind Saporita, while last year they ended up in 3rd.

Q MEX goes on to meet finalists from Brackets A (Tube Station and Pie Squared, which tied) and B (Forno), plus an as-of-yet decided contestant from Bracket D. The Bracket D final takes place next weekend – act fast as it is certain to be a sellout!
