New Bagels on the Block: 9cmBagel's Delivery Service

Beijing's bagel fans have been on a bit of a rollecoaster ride when it comes to sourcing their favorite carby treats. Now, new delivery-based service 9cmBagel are hoping to fill the void left by the closure of the re-invented Tavalin Bagels by the side of Yashow Market.  

Founded by one of the team who took over Tavalin Bagels after the eponymous Julian Tavalin left Beijing, along with another partner, 9cmBagel offer nine flavors of bagels, five flavors of cream cheese, bagel sandwiches, mini bagels, and mini stuffed bagel bombs -- small, baked bites stuffed with cream cheese, chocolate cream cheese, or peanut butter and jelly.

We ordered a bagel break snack pack (RMB 68), which comes with six mini stuffed bagel bombs, one pack of bagel chips, and three mini bagels with cream cheese. The bagels, which are boiled and baked in the traditional method, are dense with a thick crust -- we're looking forward to trying the full-size versions. Of the bagel bombs (New Yorkers may be reminded of Bantam Bagels), we most enjoyed the chocolate cream cheese ones, with their tasty brown sugar topping.

Place your order from 7.30am-7pm daily for delivery between 9am and 4pm (24-hours notice is required for orders other than bagel sandwiches). There is a minimum order of RMB 68 and delivery is free within 3km of the Hujialou area (east , after which point delivery is RMB 15 per 5km. Payment can be made via WeChat Wallet, Alipay, or cash on delivery.
