Kipp's Weekend Picks: YellowHeads, Dead Day, Cosplay, Skinnerbox, and Pub Crawls

Here’s your list of events to make you go “hmmmm” this weekend, as the summer madness continues. It should be a perfect storm of crazy parties, so get out there and bump and grind your nether regions to a gooey mush.
 

May 8: Back2Basics presents the YellowHeads
The YellowHeads have been a headlined at some of the best clubs and festivals on Earth, performing with the crème de la crème of the Euro-techno scene, such as Pendulum, Dirtyphonics, and headliners of last week’s INTRO Fest, M.A.N.D.Y.. Catch them at Lantern as they suit up and smash this dancing bunker to pieces with some throbbing electronic jams. RMB 100 (includes one free drink), RMB 70 (advance). 10pm. Lantern
 

May 8: Dead Day at 京A Taproom
On this holiday commemorating the legendary Grateful Dead, these sudsy craft brewers will be holding a tie-dye workshop. You can buy a white Jing-A shirt, and they will help you make it a one-of-a-kind, technicolor summer wardrobe staple. We’re pretty sure can bring anything though, like undies, gym socks, or pillowcases are totally possible. Free. 5pm-12am. Jing A
 

May 9: Arcade Night: Cosplay Party
Have some bit crushing fun with this fantastic costume party. Guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite video game characters for a chance to take home RMB 1,000. Also, you can expect insane drinks specials, a photo booth for some Polaroid fun, and dancing. DJ Pandachief will be supplying electronic dance sounds, and there will be lots of fun and games to be had. Embrace your inner otaku and come on down. Free. 9pm. Soi Baochao
 

May 9: Housing the Bar featuring Skinnerbox
Join these space cadets as they get extra heady playing live techno with synths and beat making devices, to purposely trip you out with neo-hippie textures and lush ambient drones. Every month Housing the Bar brings together international acts with Beijing’s best House DJs. Expect everything from pumping deep house to forward disco grooves from beyond. May 9: Pub Crawl Beijing
New in town and looking for fun watering holes? Pub Crawl Beijing can show you the essentials with their non-stop night of social mayhem. On their party bus, they will bring you to new bars with new people every weekend.
