NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Rice to Visit Beijing November 16
National Football League (NFL) Hall of Famer Jerry Rice follows up his former quarterback Joe Montana in visiting China, with a scheduled stop in Beijing November 16.
The NFL continues to make a concerted push in China. Its NFL Home Field program, taking place in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou this year, is designed to get more people in China playing NFL-style football.
Rice will be the special guest at the Beijing City Champions at NFL Home Field at Beihang Normal University on November 16 before visiting Shanghai for the national championship weekend from November 22-23. He will be interacting with fans during a meet-and-greet session at both cities and additional events will be announced soon.
Lauded as the greatest football player of all time in an NFL Films 2010 special, Rice is the latest legend to visit China, joining a list of the sport’s ambassadors that includes his teammate Joe Montana, Barry Sanders, LaDainian Tomlinson, and Tony Dorsett.
NFL Home Field returned on October 12 and continues every Sunday in Beijing, culminating in city championships on the weekend of November 16-17 and University Bowl VI at Luwan Stadium in Shanghai. Attendance has increased exponentially from 2013’s debut. The all-day event is a celebration of the sport mixing on-field clinics, family friendly interactive-games, an authentic tailgate experience and exhibitions featuring local independent adult tackle football teams.
