Speak in Public: BarCamp Beijing Set for Sunday, July 13

Speaking in public, spreading ideas, and being downright earnest: it's all happening at BarCamp Beijing this Sunday, July 13, in that nexus of ideas and earnestness, Haidian.

BarCamp is an international, user-generated conference featuring short presentations, open discussions and demos by people from a diverse range of industries, backgrounds and walks of life. BarCamp Beijing caters to a network of start-ups, designers and techies, bringing to life cutting-edge ideas from the community.

The format is simple: Talks are ten minutes long, followed by ten minutes of question and answer period or audience interaction/discussion. The goal is to foster discussion and engagement between presenter and other participants, to share and challenge different perspectives and ideas. Anyone with the ability to inspire is welcome, and past participants range from techies, scientists, doctors and chefs to artists, designers, musicians and social entrepreneurs. Think of it as a shorter TED talk that actually allows for dialogue with the presenter afterwards.
