Talking Entertainment: Where to Watch Gravity, Plus Women's Film Festival Kicks Off
Gravity, the highly buzzed science ficion thriller starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, became Warner's largest non holiday first day release on Tuesday, opening to USD 4.7 million. By Wednesday the film had already earned USD 9 million taking 68 percent of the market. This position will be threatened by yesterday's release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire which is also expected to draw waves of movie goers.

Both films are playing in hundreds of cinemas around the city according to listings on Chinese movie site Mtime.com. Gravity (地心引力) will get 1,274 screenings and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (饥饿游戏2:星火燎原) will be shown 992 times in Beijing. The popular Megabox cinemas in Sanlitun and Zhonguancun are currently showing both films at least a dozen times each throughout the day. Times and ticket booking can be found on their Chinese website.

A China Women's Film Festival is kicking off in Beijing today. The festival, which will tour the country in the next month, is hoping to raise awareness on women's issues and empower local female directors by showing a vast array of international and Chinese independent films. Public screenings and director Q&As will be open to the public starting at UCCA tomorrow and will continue throughout the week at Inside Out Theater and Zajia Lab among other venues.
