Spot Style From Space at Great Wall Fashion Show
Remember when Chen Man did that awesome photo shoot on the Great Wall with model Lv Yan and her boombox? This wonder of the world is about to get stylish again. Following in Fendi’s luxurious footsteps, designers Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone, and Marchesa will showcase their A/W collections on the only catwalk visible from outer space.
“Americans in China” is presented by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Vogue China and underwritten by Hong Kong billionaire and fashion investor Silas Chou. All parties are looking to strengthen connections between American designers and the increasingly lucrative Chinese fashion industry, according to Jing Daily.
CFDA has already made inroads into the Chinese market by signing up a partnership with Chinese luxury retailer Shangpin, which plans to have the latest trends available to mainland shoppers by the end of the year.
The American designers will be celebrated at a cocktail party hosted by fashion-forward US Ambassador to China Gary Locke on June 20, followed by a dinner with Vogue China’s editor-in-chief Angelica Cheung. The three labels will show their collections the following day at Dynasty City Wall Relics Park.
