Folk-in-Hell: Dongpai Becomes First Festival Casualty of the Year

Pity, but in hindsight, maybe it was inevitable: Beijing Dongpai Folk Festival (née Ditan Folk Festival) has become the first festive casualty of the year. Signs of trouble were already on the horizon after organizers revealed that they had to scale back from their initial plans to stage it in Chaoyang Park last month.

Our friends over at Beijingdaze broke the news this morning: There will now be no 2013 edition, but as yet no official reason has been given.

The festival had been scheduled to go ahead at 2 Kolegas on May 11 and 12 with performances from Djang San, Randy Abel Stable and The Beijing Beatles among others.
