Talking Pints: Sven Vath and 2 Faced Funks Usher In a Well-Deserved Weekend Bonanza
Well done – you've made it to the weekend. After that seven-day work week (for most of us), you deserve a humdinger of a weekend. It just so happens that that's just what is in store for you, you lucky lot.
First to some housekeeping:
- We stopped by Bourbon in Tongli Studios this week to take a look around, only to find it as quiet as a bone orchard. Looks like those cowboys have saddled up and skipped town. The scuttlebutt is that there’ll be a new kid in town before too long, but we’d sure hate to put a spoke in the wheel before anything’s confirmed. Stay tuned.
- Kweichow Moutai has scooped a World Spirits Award Gold Medal, winning a Chinese brand its first gold medal in 97 years.
- Beijing new boy Mesa officially opens next Friday (Mar 1), and they're looking to land with a bang. A RMB 100 ticket will gain you free-flow wine, cocktails, tapas and desserts all night. In addition, those in attendance will be serenaded with live jazz from Philippe Mege.
- Cocktail classes with Bob Louison return on March 8. He'll be doing a second class on March 15. They'll take place at Zeta Bar and will set you back RMB 188 to participate. There are only enough slots for 20 though, so be quick. This month's theme? Fun with foam. Contact him at bob.louison@spirit-it.org to reserve a spot.
Now to this weekend:
- The headline event of the weekend is probably electro legend Sven Vath hitting Tango tonight.
- But it could just as easily be the Stoplight Party at Haze.
- And the Funk Fever Four Year Anniversary Blowout at Migas could run them both close, too.
- Tomorrow night (Feb 23) sees Nils Nuernberg at Haze.
- The Syndicate crew present their latest session at Dada.
- And 2 Faced Funks take over GT Banana.
There's plenty more where that came from. Get over to our events section for a look if you don't believe me.
Wherever you get to this weekend, enjoy it. You deserve it.
