All the Rage: Sweet and Savory Deliveries From Rager Pies

Cupcakes have been trendy in Beijing, but mark my words, pies are the next craze, and Rager Pies gives us reason to go crazy for them. For now, the Dongsishitiao-based business is delivery only, which gives the opportunity to get a fresh, made-from-scratch pie brought to your doorstep. They arrive frozen, so place your order a day in advance and get your toaster oven ready.

Try the “Pecandrogynous” if you’ve got a sweet tooth. This walnut-pecan hybrid, made from a family recipe, is so thick and sugary that you may struggle to polish off the whole thing. They're currently serving up 9-inch pies (RMB 80 each), but will soon begin making 12-inch pies as well (prices TBD). The 9-inch is plenty to share with a few friends, though if you were left alone with one you might come dangerously close to finishing it.

Rager Pie also offers a variety of homemade whipped creams you can add to your order (RMB 10 per bag). Go the traditional route or douse your pie with more exotic flavors like brandy, lemon, Kahlua, and Jack whipped creams (yes, as in your ol’ buddy Jack Daniels). If you’re in the mood for a hearty meal in a crust, then order one of their savory pies. “Rage Pie” is stuffed with chicken, spinach, and mozzarella cheese, while “Rabbit Pie” gives veggie lovers a combo of spinach, onions, bell peppers and mozzarella to crunch on.

Call them to ask about their full selection and delivery. It’s easily the best pie I’ve had in Beijing, and the guys at Rager Pie won’t hesitate to bestow their signature advice: “Don’t rage alone!”
