Great News! Five-year-old Cancer Patient To Get Treatment in Time
We just received confirmation that 5-year-old leukemia patient Yang Bing will be getting a bone marrow transplant in time. Leslie Simpson, founder of the Roundabout charity store, appealed to the community for help yesterday. She is confident that with the donations received today – and the final bank transfers she is waiting on – there will be enough to fund the operation.
Yang Bing's mother will be the one donating bone marrow to her son. Yang's father was deemed too unhealthy from stress to donate. Upon visiting the family today, Simpson was "humbled" by the father who couldn't stop thanking her. And little Yang Bing was, in her words, "just adorable, saying please and thank you."
"Humbling" is also how Simpson described the feeling of giving this boy a chance to survive. "There are so many people out there who helped. All the local people who came to our store ... and at the end of the day, this is a life!" We would certainly call this outpouring of goodwill a triumph for the community and a fitting story for the Christmas season.
If this story moves you to do more, your donation would be gratefully accepted. Yang Bing's doctor has already ordered the family to keep their son in hospital for a year or rent an apartment where the boy can recover. Yang's hometown is an underdeveloped village in Gansu where poor sanitary conditions could threaten his recovery. His parents are heavily in debt and money is needed to keep the boy in Beijing as well as pay for ongoing treatments
Donations can be made easily. Please contact Leslie Simpson by telephone (137 1877 7761) or by emailing RoundaboutChina@gmail.com.

Re: Great News! Five-year-old Cancer Patient To Get ...
We just received an update on Yang Bing from Leslie Simpson: "Sadly this brave little boy has still not had his bone marrow transplant. After the last set-back when Yang Bing had a fever and sickness his doctor found that Yang Bing had many canker sores – which were potential sites of infection and therefore may put him at risk post surgery. He has been prescribed some special cream ( at 500rmb per tube ) and the sores are almost all healed.
He and his desperate parents wait patiently. Thank you for continuing to keep them in your thoughts and prayers."
