Slice of Life: Pizza+ near Gongti

It's not every day that we get to try out a world's best dish here in Beijing. Pizza+ claims its chef Fabrizio Montori won last year's Pizza World Championship with his Forest pizza.

The Forest (RMB 20 per slice) is damn good. Black truffle, walnuts and mushrooms give the pizza an exotic, yet earthy, taste. The rest of the world pretty much disappears when you bite into this thing. It's an intense experience, and I can see why this wins.

For something a little lighter, you can try their pumpkin pizza (RMB 15 per slice), which mixes cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, pumpkin onion and salsiccia sausage. The Four Seasons (RMB 15) is also quite good; I especially liked the artichokes.

In all, Pizza+ is making around 35 different types of pizzas, though they'll rotate through them from day to day. You can get it by the (rectangular) slice, but you can also order round pizzas to go. For this level of quality, at these prices, with the convenience of getting them by-the-slice, this will be hard to beat in Beijing.

They also do delivery within a 3km radius of its location, behind Seasons Park north of Gongti. We're told they plan to expand to other locations, too, so keep your fingers crossed.
