Taste Peru, Mexico and Italy at Westin’s 2012 Hats Off
The Hats Off series at the Westin Beijing Financial Street – in which the hotel invites some of the hottest chefs from around the world to prepare dinners in their kitchen – is always one of the more highly-anticipated culinary events of the year. This year, they’re spreading out the dining spectacles over three separate events in September, October and November. It all starts tonight with Shanghai’s star chef Eduardo Vargas.
Eduardo Vargas’ restaurant, Chichas, brought Peruvian cuisine to the Shanghai dining scene. Tonight, Beijingers can partake of his well-crafted food, which blends the ingredients and techniques of Peruvian cuisine with some Asian sensibilities. The cost for the seven-course dinner, including pre-dinner cocktails and wine pairings, is RMB 800 total. To make a reservation for tonight’s dinner, call 6629 7815.
Vargas’ menu will continue through tomorrow as well, for both lunch and dinner. In fact, for all three Hats Off events this year, you can book the three-course lunch for RMB 400 total, or the seven-course dinner with welcome cocktails and wine pairing for the aforementioned RMB 800.
So Chef Vargas will be featured on September 26-27. Which other chefs and cuisines will get showcased in the coming months?
Chef Enrique Farjeat, Mexico (Oct 24)
Chef Farjeat’s Mexico City restaurant, Quintonil, is said to be one of the most exciting places to dine in Mexico, featuring his signature blend of fierce Mexican flavors with elements of French, Italian and Japanese cooking.
Chef Gennaro Esposito, Italy (Nov 14-15)
All the Hats Off events will take place at Prego, the Westin Beijing Financial Street’s Italian restaurant, so Chef Esposito will be bringing it home. He’s got two Michelin stars and is best known for pushing the creative boundaries of Italy’s most beloved comfort foods.
Again, all chefs will be featuring lunch and dinner menus at the prices detailed above. You can reserve your spot by calling 6629 7815 or emailing F&B.Beijing@Westin.com.
Buen apetito/buon appetito!
