Weekend Live Music Roundup: Exile Parade to Play Beijing, Gallops Here on Sunday
We received the exciting news this week that British rockers Exile Parade are set to perform in Beijing on July 21. They'll play a show at Yugong Yishan before heading down to Shanghai to perform at the Zebra Festival a day later. They'll stop by Beijing one more time on July 26 to play Tango to mark football club Manchester City's visit to Beijing.
For the uninitiated, they've been favourably compared to Oasis in recent years and recently released their debut album. You can check out their Douban page here.
Still on the subject of Brit rock, this Sunday sees the arrival of Gallops in the capital as part of the UK Now series of events, before they toddle off to perform in Wuhan and Wuxi. You can find out more about the Welsh math rockers (they hate being called that, apparently) right here.
Before that, there's a regular dose of Djang San at Modernista tonight to get your weekend off and running. If you don't fancy that, there's a punk night over at MAO Livehouse.
Friday should be an interesting night. Not least at 2 Kolegas where the Street Kids Party will feature Tobias Patrick, Blackie and Yauman, with MC Chronmaster overseeing occurences. If you're not in the mood for a danceoff, there's always A Hard Day’s Night at Yugong Yishan for some prime cuts of rock.
Saturday sees the Battle of the Bands heat up at Yugong Yishan. The RMB 100,000 top prize is enough to keep it interesting in itself, but a special guest performance from Escape Plan might put this one over the top on your Saturday night. Or you could warm up for Gallops with a night of Britpop with Residence A at 2 Kolegas.
Did I mention that Gallops are at XP on Sunday as part of the UK Now tour? They're touted to be one of the 'next big things' out of Britain and should be well worth checking out.
Here's "Miami Spider" by the Gallops:
