Capital Bites: Invincible in Sanlitun Village, Chi Fan For Charity and Switch! Grill Wine Dinners
We're bringing you two installments of Capital Bites this week. This one will tell you about many things, but most importantly, there's some great news for ramen addicts ...
First up, we're thrilled to tell you that Invincible Ramen – the Beijinger team's favorite ramen in the entire city – is moving into the former Ganges space in Sanlitun Village South. Their signage points to a May 1 opening. We'll be doing like there's an Apple launch and queuing up from April 30.
Next Tuesday (Apr 17), Chi Fan For Charity continues its campaign to leverage one of Beijing's favorite hobbies to raise money for good causes – this time it's Children's Hope Orphanage – with a one-off "The Best of Napa Valley" wine dinner. Actually, multiple wine dinners (these guys don't mess around with single-venue events) – simultaneous dinners at excellent venues including Vasco's at Hilton Wangfujing, Grange Grill at Westin Chaoyang, Temple Restaurant Beijing, Maison Boulud and the new Brasserie Flo. The Boulud and Temple events are sold out, but there are still a few places left at the other restaurants, so get your bookings made if you're keen to help out. Visit Chi Fan's website for full details and restaurant reservations. All dinners cost RMB 800 and begin at 6.30pm.
Mosto has expanded to add seating for around ten to 15 extra diners, in a space that can also be converted to a private room. They're also doing a new "Mosto at 6" promotion: a two- or three-course set menu (RMB 218-258) available 6-7pm seven days a week.
Seems that these early evening dining deals are the next big thing. Agua's "Ven Pronto" promotion continues to offer a four-course set menu for RMB 248 as long as you reserve and get yourself in and out before 7.30pm.
Brussels is now open from 11am and offering daily lunch specials.
Look out for The Little Easy's grand opening party this Friday (Apr 13) on Sanlitun Bar Street. Yes, it's more of a bar, but of interest to food fans because they tell us they'll be rolling out a limited menu of New Orleans classics including crawfish, catfish and po' boys.
Finally, Switch! Grill presents a "Taste of Austria" wine dinner on April 13, with Chef Heinz Klenner and Austrian winemaker Fred Loimer teaming up for a night of Austrian food and wine.
