Is this Beijing’s Most Badass Burger?

Our Burger Wars series might seem like a distant pain in the gut, but the battle for beef supremacy rages on regardless. In fact, Beijing’s Burger King restaurants have taken it up a notch recently, with the unveiling of their champion of champions. Citizens, I give you … the Beef Explosion.

In restaurants for around two weeks now, this stacked monster (RMB 35 sandwich only, RMB 48 meal deal) really packs it in: four “flame-grilled” patties, four slices of American cheese, bacon and a splodge of beef chilli. I took up the challenge at the U-Town branch near Ritan, staffed largely by large men, in need of a good scrub (not the men - actually, probably them too).

Taste-wise I'm happy (and a bit guilty) to report it's a step-up from the Whopper I suffered during Burger Wars. Exceedingly beefy and cheesy (duh) - but I wasn't sold on the chilli, with a processed tomato flavor that lingered longer than the beefiness, which is all wrong.

If four patties is three, two or one too many, you can get the single"beef", double up with the "very beef(y)", triple it with the "super beef". But why have silver when you can have gold? Be a man (or strong independent woman) and take on the beef explosion. You know you want to.
