First Snow Pics

Unless you've been asleep for the past 12 hours you'll know Beijing finally had its first snow for this winter last night. We took some snaps of the fall around town this morning.

According to the Global Times the first falling flakes were noted in places like Sanlitun, Zhongguancun and Fuchengmen around 10.30pm last night. The article also noted, "Beijing has not had any substantial precipitation for 108 days, breaking a 60-year record for latest snowfall, according to a report released by the National Meteorological Center of China Meteorological Administration Wednesday." The extended dry spell across north China has raised concerns rising food prices and dwindling supplies of drinking water.

The snow in Beijing is not expected to last for long, although there is a small chance of more falls on the weekend.
