Mr. Porter Is Coming to Town
Men, hold tight: Mr. Porter (www.mr-porter.com), the “first global men’s wear online retail destination,” is arriving early next month.
Us girls have been spoiled by the accessibility of high-fashion women’s clothing via Net-a-Porter, its parent website. True, most of us can’t afford the labels – and shipping (at around RMB 200/order) isn’t exactly cheap. But it gives us the opportunity to ogle and, more importantly, purchase several brand items that’d be unavailable otherwise.
Now men, too, have that option. The press release boasts that Mr. Porter is "the first of its kind" – a "dedicated men's wear site" that's open "24 hours a day, 365 days a year and offering the most discerning selection of men’s fashion.”
Considering their list of launch partners (Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Lanvin, YSL, Margiela, Balmain, Rick Owens and Gucci, to name a few), they're likely to deliver on their promise. The website will be unveiled at the helm of Net-a-Porter's success, on their 10th anniversary.
Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet declares they're proud to keep Net-a-Porter a "woman's brand," but they're now ready to create a new one "entirely conceived with the stylish man in mind."
“We look forward to welcoming a new group of super stylish men who join us to shop for themselves with the same level of service, dedication and commitment that women have had for the last decade,” she says.
