Japanese Style: Oden Open on Sanlitun

Stylish Oden is the latest outing from the folks behind neighboring whisky bar Glen. The eponymous specialty here is a Japanese staple: seafood, vegetables and tofu boiled in a lightly flavored, heartwarming broth (RMB 70-180). Think of it as a clean-cut, healthy relative of that ever-popular local favorite, mala tang.

The innovative furnishings can be moved and manipulated according to the amount and preference of diners; equally refreshing are the affordable sake tasting sets (RMB 160-390, sets of eight or 16). Don’t miss the sumptuous grilled miso codfish (RMB 68), and be sure to leave room for a sushi platter (RMB 200).
