We had gone to the old location a few times and found it more or less ok. We wanted sandwiches last night and decided to try out the new location. When we got there we realized we were the only customers. Nali patio/courtyard was packed with people dining at Moka Bros, Kenny's, Bottega, etc.—but there was not a soul in Bocata. That was the first warning. We almost walked out, but the staff seemed friendly and attentive.
We ordered two sandwiches, two Coronas and a bowl of olives. The olives were the second warning. Instead of bringing us what looked like fresh Mediterranean olives (as shown in the menu), we got warm olives poured straight out of a can. They didn't even bother to drain the liquid, and they decided to add chopped onions and peppers. We didn't want warm olives from a can and we certainly didn't want—at all—chopped onions and peppers. We used a toothpick to taste one olive and decided we didn't want the olives.
The waitress insisted that we couldn't return it. We had to pay for it.
"Did you eat them?"
"Yes, we ate one."
"Then you have to pay for it."
"But we hate it."
"But you ate one."
"We certainly didn't want chopped onions and peppers in our olives, and we decided to be a sport and try one of them anyway. But, sorry, no, this tastes like shit. Just please take it back. Who asked you to put chopped onions and peppers in this thing anyway? We certainly didn't."
"But you ate one..."
"And it sucked."
"Yeah, well, you have to pay for the whole dish now."
"Are you trying to tell me that if we hadn't eaten one it could be returned?"
"Yes. Because we wouldn't have had to throw it out. But because you ate one, now we have to throw it out, because you touched it."
"So are you telling me that if you serve something, and the customer doesn't touch it, or claims not to have touched it, and asks for a refund, you take it back to the kitchen and you serve it later to someone else?"
"You ate one is your fault! You have to pay!"
"Why don't we just make it real easy on you and walk out the door. We'll pay for these Coronas, but we don't want our olives or your sandwiches."
"Ok, ok. We take back the olives."
So she takes back the olives.
A few minutes later, the sandwiches come out, and they were (surprise, surprise) not as advertised in the menu. Instead of brimming with hot beef and blue cheese, the beef was barely warm, and dry and bland—with no salt or seasoning of any kind. It tasted like a gray rotting corpse. The blue cheese was non existent. I don't recall the price, but it was around 60. There should have at least been a dab of blue cheese. The other sandwich, bacon, brie and roasted peppers, was ok. The concept of this sandwich was great. I just wish they put, you know, bacon, brie and roasted peppers in there. What a ripoff. What a sham. Will never be back.

Re: No wonder the place was empty
This place has sucked horribly since relocating. They should have just closed if they were going to drop their standards. Total dump.
