As a former long-term expat in Tokyo, I find it incredibly hard to find authentic sushi in Beijing. Quality at the popular Beijing joints is just too uneven - they often serve up dry old sushi and get away with it because, lets face it, mainlanders generally don't know squat about authentic Japanese food so they don't recognize crap when they taste it. Fortunately, for those who need the real deal, there is Yotsuba. Consistently flapping fresh, prepared under the watchful eye of Japanese management, tasting Yotsuba's nigiri sushi and rolls always brings me back to my favorite haunts in Shibuya and Tsukiji market. Tried the new Yotsuba in Lido (next to Frank's Place, second floor) last night - much bigger and brighter than their Xindong location - and did not need a reservation despite going at a peak hour. Highly recommended.
